Watches & Jewelry care tips: cleaning closings

Our care tip of today surely can be used for many closings of jewelry like  bracelets and necklaces. In this special case however, I want to stress that the closings of YuKoN and DyKoN should be cleaned on a regular basis. Otherwise, problems with the clearance could occur, as in the case of this costumer, who asked for help:

Dear Sirs and Madams,

I bought bracelet (natural rubber with stainless steel closing), which I was wearing during my vacation without taking it off. Too bad that I can´t open it now. And since I´m not planning on wearing it all my life, but don´t want to cut it on the other hand, I´m asking you for further steps to solve my problem.

Our care tip:

When wearing your jewelry for a long period, small pieces of soap, skin or cremes, saltwater and dirt can get in the closing, preventing it from opening or closing. To solve this problem we recommend to open the YuKoN or DyKoN closing taking it off and clean it under warm or hot water on a regular basis.

This did not answer the question of the customer. It clearly states that she cannot open the bracelet and your answer was to open it. If you are going to serve the customer better, you should pay attention to the letter and/or find someone who actually reads and understands English.

  2. If you want optimum jewelry care, you can take your items to the jeweler’s or any jewelry shop for cleaning and polishing. You can do this about twice a year depending on how badly scratched the item is. This is also your chance to get your jeweler to make adjustments or improvements on your jewelry.
