Real and fake diamonds

Lately, we´ve been talking a lot about jewelry for men, especially about the growing popularity of diamond jewelry for men. But of course, there are also a lot (more) different kinds of jewelry for women. Necklaces, for example, are the most popular jewelry among women.

When it comes to diamonds, I thought it could be interesting to know, how you can test if it´s a real one or not. Not everything that is shiny is also a diamond. So here are a few tips that might help you:

1: The diamonds setting. That means, you should check if the diamond(s) are mounted or if you can see any cheap materials that make diamond look bigger and flashier.

2: Weight the diamond (if you have the chance to). A real diamond will weigh about half of what a fake one does.

3: Breathing on the stone can also help. The fog should disappear in about 1-2 seconds. If it takes longer, chances are high that it’s just glas.

4: Put a newspaper behind the stone and try to read it. If the letters are visible, it probably is not a real diamond.

By the way, do not try to scratch glas with it. Even if it´s a real diamond it will not only damage the glas.  More about this topic can be found here. Another, and very simple way to make sure you bought real diamond jewelry, look for the TeNo sign. :-)

The development of men´s jewelry

Florian - Saturday, September 5 2009

020.22P08+020.22P10._Var2

Men´s diamond jewelry has changed and it´s design has evolved a lot since the past years. From over sized rings and necklaces, which were to heavy to wear to stylish and confident design, with attracting to much attention. Men´s jewelry has evolved into a respected category with it´s own design and features. TeNo for instance, uses the three square design. And just like women´s jewelry, it should match your overall look and wardrobe, so their functions are almost the same. Even if men usually buy jewelry for other reasons than women.
This also describes the philosophy of TeNo. Because we think that jewelry should be for everyone, no matter if it´s for men, women or unisex, as we already said in this post. ;-)
But the linked blog has more to offer about diamond jewelry. This report shows the diamond trade week of different countries. It´s a little specific, but also interesting if you are involved in the diamond business, one or the other way. :-)

The worlds most rare diamonds

Florian - Tuesday, May 19 2009

On this list you can finds the top t10 pink diamonds, which are also the worlds most rare ones. The Darya-i-Nur Diamond. It comes from a mine in the Kimberly region in West-Austrailia, which produces over 95% of the worlds supply. Further more you can find´9 more pink diamonds in tha list with names like “Steinmetz” or “Pink Sunrise”. Personally, I think that it’s not a matter of how rare or big the diamond is, but how they are worked into the design. ;-)

Collecting, composing and changing

This night black V-Collier is something else! Namely numerous black and white diamonds. With this variation we composed a very exclusive combination. The more simple and classic elements made of stainless steel got bedight with countless diamonds in black and white. :-) These little sins are alternating with the blackened and very stylish YuKoN elements in black. And once again the multifunctionality of them becomes obvious. All the elements can be combined any way you want and can be put on a bracelet or collier. With natural rubber ot steel, sportive or elegant. Just the way you like it.

After showing you TeNo de luxx square design, I wanted to show that also the collectors assortment YuKoN has something to offer for friends of a little bit of personal luxury. In our opinion, collectors jewelry is something for every taste of every gender of every age and for… ;-)) well just for everybody.

New in our collection of elements for example are these stainless steel elements with rubies and diamonds, which gives the YuKoN combination a feminine touch. On this picture we beaded a multi-row stainless steel cord collier, the so called V-Collier. We explained the principle, of which we are very proud of, last christmas.

Watches and jewelry – christmas tips: Being prepared for the question of your life

Florian - Sunday, December 14 2008

Christmas – a time of  many proposals. I don’t think that there is a time when more couples are getting engaged. To seal a promise with jewelry connects and bounds, and that’s the beauty of sliding the ring on the finger of your object of your affection.  So in this situation it would be good to have a pair of TeNo partnership rings in your pocket. ;-)

However, here is a little hint: If you don’t have a perfect seized ring that you can show the jeweler as an example, you should bring home a symbolic ring and let the suprise be what it is. ;-) Finding the right seized ring is always a problem, so you should go to a specialist who can help you out. Even differences in the ring profile can make it necessary to change the ring seize, “even with the same finger.” And, since a ring should be part of your life for a long long period of time, you should keep in mind that the thickness of your fingers are different in the winter than during the summer. But a well experienced jeweler should know that and consider it in his consulting. (more …)

Thoughts about diamonds

Biggi - Thursday, December 4 2008

“Is a Great Diamond Crash in the Price of Diamonds Possible in the Future?”, James Green asks in his blog “bloggeron”, a blog with the subhead quality over quantity. With his posting he approves this subhead. Interesting thoughts. Worth reading.

And for those who are interested in diamonds: The history of diamonds and: diamond earrings look lovely with a neclace. Indeed, they do. :-)
